megglesruth asked: I heard Home to Texas for the first time on 99.5 The Ranch in Fort Worth last night and absolutely loved it! I bought it on Itunes today. I wish I would have found your stuff when you were still touring.

Much appreciated! I love Ft Worth and The Ranch: they’ve both always been great to me. I miss playing up there and hope someday I can make a trip that way and play a few shows. Thanks for the message, it means a lot to me ~ rj

Saw you at Nutty Brown Cafe

Ryan,

My wife and I saw you perform at the Nutty Brown Cafe many years ago.  If I remember correctly, you opened for Pat Green.  It turned out to the biggest crown ever at the Nutty Brown Cafe at around 3,500 people.  I recall you telling the crowd that it was “a really big in your life” - I assume because of the size of the crowd.

My wife and I really enjoyed the show and some months later I went to your website and looked for more shows but never saw any upcoming dates.  We were hoping to see you play and sing again somewhere in the Austin area.  Thanks for maintaining this site and letting everyone know where you are these days.  Everyone knows how “life” can take over and force you to put your dreams on hold.

I hope you are enjoying being a dad.  I have a 5 year old girl and a 2 year old boy and they are wonderful.  Our daughter  loves singing and music, so its too bad that I don’t have your musical talent, otherwise I would teach her a thing or two.

Anyway, thanks again or keeping up the site.  I hope to see you on stage again somewhere farther along the road of life.

Ian

Are you with me baby?

I was just listening to Are you with me Baby and got to thinking I sure wish there was a Ryan James concert to go to.  Congrats on the schooling and your family… I have some concert pics from County Line and Whitewater Amphitheater from ‘07 that you once asked me to email to you… I will do that soon.  My husband and I miss going to Ryan James concerts.  You ROCK, Ryan!!!

This was a typical crowd for us at Schroeder Hall. We were opening for Roger Creager in this particular photo. I’m sure the bar filled up completely right around the end of our second-to-last song.
I can’t complain though. The staff at Schroeder was always great to us. We would follow every sound check with the best home cooked chicken casserole and apple cobbler provided by one of the sweetest bar owners in all of Texas.
I always wished we had done better in Goliad if for no other reason than to repay all those wonderful meals.
Also entirely worth mentioning were the die hard fans that would make the long drive. Usually they’d hide in the shadows during the show, but I knew they were there. I loved that they were there.
The band: Adam Svoboda (now with Rich O’Toole) on guitar and Eric Lenington (now with Kyle Park) on bass. Both of these guys are great performers. Go check them out and say hi if you ever get the chance.

A Proper Introduction …

Hi, my name is Ryan James*. You might remember me from such hits as, “How Long,” “Home to Texas,” or “Goodbye Carolina.” If not, then take my word, you are not alone. In 2005 my debut album, Back to the Wind, hit the market followed by Directed in 2007. Things—as things so often do—didn’t work out exactly the way I’d planned. So here I am keeping connected to a life that gave me so much love and so much turmoil. There are many friends and fans I miss seeing every weekend. Thank goodness for the internet!
